Gals fighters is a free 2D fighting game made with the work of a bunch of fighting lovers and games creation amateurs, This fanwork is solely aimed to provide an enjoyable experience for casual gamers who want to try something new.
The characters come from various well-known or less-known fighting games and as the title of the game implies, they are all female fighters. Currently, all stages are night sceneries coming from the Real Bout Fatal Fury series. The game design is original, although many elements were taken from different games. No music is included at the moment but the users can include their own tracks easily.
All the components of the game (characters, stages and game design) were created separately by different people who got all sprites, voices and sounds from the original games using emulators (mainly WinKawaks and Nebula), and then coded them using the tools available with the free fighting engines, making them as close as possible from the game they were taken from. After this long and painful process, all the works were collected and adapted to make a whole coherent and original game.
The current game uses the M.U.G.E.N. fighting engine developed by the now deceased Elecbyte but since it is no longer updated, the game might be transferred on another engine in the future.

22nd April 2007
First patch released. Some issues with previously released characters have been corrected and three new ones were added (Roomi, Tesse and Tsunade). The stages and music tracks for these new characters were also included.
16th April 2007
A demo version of the game is available for download and testing. This version only contains four characters (Nakoruru, Bust Nakoruru, Sakura and Dark Sakura) and four stages. New characters and stages will be available when updated, which will be quick for some and take more time for others. You are welcome to leave your feedbacks and comments on the BBS.
22th February 2007
The new website was uploaded. As usual, the coding was entirely made with the Notepad and the few graphical elements were generated with The Gimp. The download is still unavailable and it should take some more time before there are enough elements ready to justify a new release.

The game is currently around 90% done.
All main characters have been adapted, although at a different level. Half of them can be considered as finished as there only remain bugs that will be corrected once they are found. A couple of them are still missing some important elements (special moves and/or supers). The remaining ones still need a few changes before being considered as complete.
Twelve stages are ready. A couple of ones are still missing and are currently being made. They should be ready for the next release. Additional stages from other series might be added in the future.
The main screens of the screenpack are almost done. The Select screen has been redone and a couple of details should be added in the Title screen and Pre-fight screen.

The game uses a classic 4 button gameplay directly inspired by The King Of Fighters series, with 2 punches, 2 kicks, a knock-down attack and dodges.
The power system works as in the Samurai Shodown series : being hit increases the characters rage gauge, and once this gauge is full, a super attack can be launched.
Three types of fights are available :
- Single matches : the classic one versus one confrontation. In the Arcade mode, only this type of fighting is available.
- Simul matches : a tag match involving two teams of two characters. One character fights on the stage while his partner rests outside. Both of them can be switched anytime until the end of the round. The second character can be controled by either the player or the computer.
- Turn matches : a match between two teams of two to four characters. Only one character of each team fights on the stage each round. Once one of them loses the round, she is replaced by one of her partners.
